Popsicle stick crafts: Make a chalk board door hangar
This project was born out of two things…a lot of extra popsicle sticks and my son’s love of Legos. I came up with this while I was bandaging my foot from crossing a Lego mine field in the dark…I know all of my moms with boys know what I am talking about!
- chalk board paint
- popsicle sticks (about 10 of the tongue depressor size)
- hot glue gun
- ribbon or twine
- a handful of homeless Lego blocks
- make it girly with some jewels, Polly Pocket or Shopkins toys
Cover your work space…it’s going to get dirty.
Lay down two popsicle sticks parallel to each other then start gluing the rest of the sticks next to each other moving downward. I know that sounds confusing, but refer to the video above if you need more info.
Paint the board with chalk board paint. You smooth strokes in the same direction each time. Two coats may be needed. Then let it dry completely.
Glue your decorations (Legos or jewels) around the perimeter of the board.
Glue a length of ribbon or twin onto the back of the board
With a piece of chalk, tell the world who’s room this door hanger will be protecting!
